New house, lost keys, a roommate or a contractor who still has a key: we rekey every exterior door to one new key on site, replace worn locks and deadbolts, and cut the copies you need.
You cannot know how many keys to your new house are out there: the previous owners, their family, the cleaner, the dog walker, the contractor who finished the kitchen. A rekey changes the pins inside your existing locks so the old keys stop working and the locks stay on the door. Every exterior door can be put on one key, and it is done in one visit, with the copies cut on the spot.
Same answer: rekey the doors that key opened. Getting a key back does not tell you whether it was copied. If the hardware is in good shape, rekeying is cheaper than new locks and the door looks exactly the same afterward.
When a knob is loose, a deadbolt stops short, or a lock is simply worn out, we replace it with a quality lock keyed to the rest of the house. A deadbolt is only locked when the bolt is thrown all the way out; if your key stops short or grinds, or you have to pull the door toward you to turn it, the strike or the frame needs correcting, and we fix that at the same time. We also add deadbolts to doors that never had one.

Usually, yes. Locks of the same brand or keyway are pinned alike so one key opens the front door, the back door and the garage entry. Where the locks are a mix of brands, one or two may need a new cylinder or a new lock.
